“Look not long at what’s offered for every precious thing has wings and may fly away.”
This latest series is an exploration between the fragile beauty of our society and the more disgusting, destructive forces that surround/inhabit us. Though these two notions sit at opposite ends of a beam, they possess a commonality of eliciting strongly-instinctual, visceral reactions when presented to us.
These ideas are explored, and parallels drawn, between the world at large in 2020 and the microcosm that is my personal life at this time. Concepts such as health and the pandemic we are living through, online beauty standards, material (over)consumption, isolation and pop culture ideals have been strong kick-off points for the series.
